As much as I love Phoenix, it’s always hard to pack up and leave San Diego after spending a few days enjoying the sights and the weather!  That said our recent jaunt out there coincided with WordCamp San Diego.  WordCamps are (simply put) WordPress Conferences for Designers, Developers, and WordPress enthusiasts alike.  We always have great times hanging with our friends at these events.

We had the pleasure of being a sponsor at this year’s WordCamp in San Diego.  It was held at the awesome Thomas Jefferson Law School in downtown San Diego!  I also had the pleasure of speaking as well for the second year in a row.  My talk was titled Custom Goals and Custom Themes – click here for my slides.  We tackled some strategy for consulting business owners on how to go about building them Custom WordPress Themes.  With an event filled with so many WordPress experts it was truly awesome to be included to share with the great folks who attended.

I have to give major love over to the organizers of WordCamp San Diego for their hospitality and hard work that went into planning such an amazing event!  Out of all of the WordCamps we’ve attended we enjoy the San Diego one most!  (so far ;)  As a token of their appreciation, they gave out these amazing custom baseball jerseys that were made for all of the speakers.  I was happy to see my name spelled right and to be able to wear this to represent such a great event!

Our time in San Diego ended with a short stop in one of our favorite places – La Jolla, CA.  This is a little more north of where the conference was hosted in the downtown part of San Diego.  We stopped by the tide pools and I was able to take this shot of the cove.

Before wrapping this up, I want to send a special shout out to the amazing WordPress folks who we got to meet and hang with!

Pixel Jar, Binary M, Securi Security, Web Dev Studios, Bastos Ventures, Blue Dog Studios, Jared Atchison, WP Engine, Dreamhost, 9 Seeds, and if we forgot you let us know!

Until next time, you stay classy San Diego!

How awesome was WordCamp San Diego?  Maybe a bit too awesome to put in just one blog!  We made our second trip to the always awesome event.  Big thanks to the organizers and all the help for another amazing event.  This year WordCamp San Diego was in the spring.  Not that it’s a huge issue, but it’s always nice to look forward to escaping the Phoenix heat and heading out to San Diego.  But then again, there’s never a bad time to visit San Diego!

So this was our second event and second time speaking.  This year I spoke on different case studies for people with different WordPress Theme Goals.  This was of course compiled from our experience with working with so many different types of Custom WordPress Themes.  Feel free to check out my slides from the event below, also be on the watch for the video launching soon!

Here are my slides from WordCamp San Diego.  I will add a video blog to talk about my impressions and feedback from the trip.  Thanks for checking us out!
